And They’re Off – Beta Part Deux

I know you all have been chomping at the bit to find out who’ll be in the next wave of beta testers for Pogoplug, so we’re happy to announce that the second round (Part Deux, if you will) has begun. We have been wading through applications from enthusiastic gadget addicts who want to help us and have finally chosen our next wave of testers. This selection process has been really difficult, but exciting for our team. We’ve seen people plead with us on twitter and send out everything but their resume to help sway us. It makes us really proud to know so many people believe in our idea and want to support us to make it better. Please keep us on your radar for future testing opportunities and we hope to hear from you when we start shipping in March!

  1. Honestly guys,
Please!!! You are killing me… not having the pogoplug available!!!!
I don’t know what I need to say to you guys to know or understand my urgent need.

  2. John McLoughlin says:

    include me please

  3. Navdeep says:

That just goes to show.. design a simple product to meet a need and the people will be excited. I know I am…

  4. All the cheap NAS solutions out there are horrible for one reason or another, most with transfer speed. Do we have an idea what kind of transfers POGO will offer?

  5. malhotra81 says:

So the Invitations have gone out? If i didn’t receive anything until now that means I wasn’t not selected? :(

  6. Ian says:

    +1 on what malhotra81 says…

  7. Brandonc says:

I am looking forward to this product. I will help me a ton with sharing files with family.

  8. Brian says:

I made it! I am really excited to start testing. Thanks for the opp. I won’t let you down!

  9. Don says:

I would love to be included in the testing. I could really test out that 20/20 fiber line I have at home. :)

  10. IGoPogo says:

What a wonderfully simple and needed idea! I currently synchronize from the internet through my LAN to an external hard drive, which not coincidentally is also named Pogo. I use LogMeIn Pro, which means a workstation is always running. Hope you add the ability to run such apps on Pogoplug off the hard drive, which would create an incredibly low-cost always-on no-excuses secure remote backup … please:)

  11. John says:

All you gadget writers please do not forget Logitech/Slimdevices Squeezecenter do adapt. I love the idea to have a simple media server for my Squeezebox.

  12. Zimi says:

How secure is it? Is it possible to hack it and make your HDD content available to everyone on the net?

    Good idea though!

  13. Team Pogoplug says:

@Zimi and others concerned with security- Pogoplug is tied to your email address and is password protected (you assign your password). All Web access is over SSL, including initial email address/password authentication. We create a direct connection between your computer and the Pogoplug which is fully encrypted and Pogoplug effectively creates a secure VPN into your hard drive.

  14. KevinJ says:

When will the Pogoplug start shipping? We are already in March now and can’t wait to get my hands on this device.

  15. Amit says:

Please Please Please include me in the beta… I have already preordered my pogoplug, and can’t wait to get my hands on it. It will be great if I can beta it.

  16. marco borgna says:

  17. Craig Biehl says:
