How We Are Selecting Testers

Thanks again to everyone who sent in their info for our beta program.  We’ll be selecting testers based on the following criteria:

  • Geography – we want a diverse group of testers who can try using their Pogoplug in different locations, such as local WiFi hotspots, corporate environments, and with numerous ISPs.
  • Hardware – we’ll be sifting through to find many different types of routers, external hard drives, USB hubs, PCs, etc.
  • Software – comparing against numerous combinations of firewalls and anti-virus software.
  • Devices – lots of different devices can interact with content on a Pogoplug, so we’ll try to get some interesting ones in the mix.
  • Availability – just as much as we want the folks who’ve got 4 hours a day to give us, we also want to see how the more casual user will find working with the Pogoplug.

We’ll start going through applications today, and start notifying people as soon as we can – by email.  If you did apply for the beta, please make sure you’ve whitelisted @pogoplug.com emails, just in case.  :)

WD 2TB drive out! As soon as it comes up for sale as an external drive you can bet it’s getting plugged into a PogoPlug. Here’s hoping it’ll be a beta unit :D
